The TPS7A4001DGNR device combines the benefits of a thermally enhanced package (HVSSOP) with the ability to withstand continuous DC voltages or transient input voltages up to 100V.
The TPS7A4001DGNR device is stable (overtemperature and surge protection) with any output capacitance above 4.7µF and input capacitance above 1µF. The device also includes thermal shutdown and current limit functions to protect the system during fault conditions.
Because of the small package (HVSSOP) of the TPS7A4001DGNR device and the relatively small output capacitors that may be used, implementation requires very little board space. In addition, the TPS7A4001DGNR device provides an enable pin (EN) compatible with standard CMOS logic to enable low current shutdown mode.
The TPS7A4001DGNR device not only provides a fully regulated voltage rail, but can withstand and remain regulated during very high fast voltage transients. These features represent a simple and cost-effective electrical surge protection circuit ideal for PoE, bias power and LED lighting applications.
